Riefler wall regulator with exceptional history.

Riefler regulator No.331 with spring impulse escapement and electric remontoire in a mahogany and maple case. This regulator has the following complete and exceptional history:

11th September 1912 Supplied to Wm. Gaertner & Co. Ltd. Chicago. ( Wm. Gaertner & Co. was established by William Gaertner, a German instrument maker, in 1896 in Chicago Ill) who were agents for Riefler and supplied American observatories and universities with regulators and optical equipment.

1912-1930 It was installed in the Illinois Watch Company observatory as part of the original equipment and was used as the sidereal timekeeper for the whole of Illinois State and remained in service until the factory closed in 1930.

1930-1961 It was then installed in the School of Horology at Bradley University.

1961-2008 Moved along with the horology school to Gem City College.

2008-2019 Given to a retiring professor from Gem City College.
