Exquisite and rare rosewood table chronometer by the famous firm of Thomas Mercer. Circa 1970.

Styled as a regency 5 glass library clock this clock is one of the deluxe editions of table chronometers that Mercer produced in the last quarter of the 20thC. The case is constructed from the finest rosewood especially chosen for its wonderful heavy and contrasting grain and has bevelled glasses with a square dial aperture. The brass silvered dial is signed Thomas Mercer. Numbered 1260, it has running seconds at 12 ‘o’ clock and an up and down scale at 6.The superb quality 8 day jewelled movement has double screwed bulbous pillars and is spot finished throughout. The chronometer escapement is on a spot finished platform sited on top of the movement. The back plate is signed Thomas Mercer, St.Abans, England.

The clock is currently being serviced by the ex-foreman of Thomas Mercer.
