Oak regulator by Lowe of Chester.

Ref: 1055

This clock was the showroom regulator of the famous Chester jeweller until they closed their doors for the last time earlier this year after being in business for over 240 years.

Classic oak dome topped case with good use of the best oak, cut in a way to show off the medullary rays.

The eight day weight driven movement is of the finest quality supplied by John Morrison who made movements for Kullberg, Vulliamy etc.

The movement has massive plates joined by 6 tapered double screwed pillars. Very fine wheelwork with high count pinions and adjustable end-stops throughout, jewelled pallets, bearings and Harrison’s maintaining power.

The movement and pendulum sit on Morrison’s signature cast iron support bracket that retains its original painted finish.

The separately suspended pendulum has a mercury filled glass jar with an adjustable frame and a weight tray for making very fine timing adjustments on the pendulum rod.

Brass dial is silvered and wax filled, signed Lowe Chester and is of the traditional regulator format with separate dials for seconds and hours with central minutes.
